Personal History: website

Personality:

Ichiban Kasuga is a lively fellow with an open personality and a charming simplicity. His biggest strength is also his greatest weakness: his sense of undying loyalty. When the phrase "loyal to a fault" is used in correlation to Kasuga, it's not an exaggeration. In the end, he really is loyal to even the guy most likely to kill him. His sense of honor means a lot to him, and he's constantly going on about loyalty and honor of the Yakuza as if those aspects are the most important (even if in this day and age they may not be as prevalent as they once were).

Despite Kasuga's former ties to the Yakuza, he is a very kind and caring person. This is in part due to his love of video games and how he pretends to be a hero in a quest game, and its how he displays his sense of honor. He wishes to protect people and set things right when they go wrong. He's constantly helping others with small and even some rather large tasks, anything from finding lost cats to taking on the burden of running a failing confection business to get it back on top. This also goes in hand with his sense of justice. If he thinks someone has been wronged he will go out of his way to help fix the problem and/or punish the wrongdoer. He even has an app on his phone that alerts him whenever he's nearby someone who needs a helping hand.

These are Kasuga's best qualities. Sometime they can definitely get him into trouble but he's a lucky guy that is used to climbing his way from rock bottom to the top. His perseverance and determination keep him going even in the most dire of circumstances. It's not often he falls off this racing horse. However, like everyone in the world, occasionally things do happen to get him to display his worst traits. Few and far in between as they may seem, they can also get him into a fair bit of trouble.

Being a very passionate guy, Kasuga can get worked up into a frenzy easily sometimes. When in a rage, even he fears what he might do without restraint. Kasuga is not the killing type, typically knocking out his opponents rather than making their naps permanent, but under the right circumstances he fears he could make an exception in a fight. He even says he's afraid he might kill a guy whenever challenged while he's distressed at one point. Thankfully, that was the one guy who could punch his lights out and knock some sense into him for once.

This also goes in hand with the fact that he has a brash mouth. His confidence is usually a good thing but sometimes he acts without thinking. He'll tell a person what he really thinks about them even if it means getting into a fight over his opinion. Likewise, he'll sometimes walk right into trouble knowing its trouble but not having a plan for it anyway. If his friends don't stop and make him think first, sometimes this can backfire for him pretty awkwardly. On the other hand, if forced to slow down and think for a bit, he can also come up with some pretty good plans of action once he tries.

This is Kasuga in a nutshell. On the outside he's fairly simple and easy-going, a bit of a clueless idiot at first appearances, but quick to learn and adapt if pushed to shove. His passion drives him to do good but also can get in his way. He's a fairly average guy all around that just so happens to have a very colorful life. Overall though, he's a good guy and people tend to like his quaint charm and passion for life even if he can sometimes be a total idiot on occasion and has trouble follow him around like a magnet for it.

Key themes: As his name implies: going from rock bottom to the very top of the mountain and living through all the hard times in between while maintaining his kindness, loyalty, and tenacity through thick and thin.

Main Motivation: becoming the best hero he can be for people being kind and fair to others; pursuing truth and justice

Skills: Kasuga is a former Yakuza and as such has skills related to his low-level rank among the organization. Mostly for him this revolves around fighting. He's a capable bare-knuckle brawler who also copies pro-wrestling moves in his fighting style. He will also use improvised weaponry when items are scattered around and make use of weapons such as baseball bats, swords, random traffic implements, bikes, signs, anything he can pick up and use as a melee weapon. He doesn't seem to care for guns all that much. He has a basic knowledge of the underworld, particularly in Japan, but he's not really all that intellectual. However, he picks up on skills and knowledge very quickly and acts accordingly.

He's had a smattering of jobs after his stint in prison so while his knowledge of modern gadgets and things is sometimes lacking, he has a variety of skills based on his numerous jobs around town as he regains his footing in modern society. Most of his references will be from the 80s and 90s, I'm so sorry.

He was an avid gamer in his youth so he's got some video game skill and also enjoys physical competition games as well and is fairly decent at most things he gets into. He's kinda an average joe in a non-average story of a life so he's kinda good at anything but maybe not always great at everything.
